Focus paddocks - Emergence

Numbers of plants emerged were generally lower in No-Till crops (Figure 22a-c), with the exception of Patchewollock. No-Till plant densities were generally at the lower end of the recommended range (100-150 plants/m2). The lower plant density for No-Till systems appears to reflect row spacing; when calculated on a per length of row basis, No-Till plant densities were often similar, or slightly higher (Figure 23a-c). Plant density for non-cereal crops, particularly chickpeas in 2007, were very low (although adequate on a per length of row basis for Minyip).
