I was almost as excited this evening as when we first heard the frog from the pond. It has been wet now for two days (after rain a week earlier) and this has been enough to set several Mallee Spadefoot Toads (Neobatrachus pictus)calling from the dam. I recorded two hours of dam sounds, and have posted a couple of highlights to the sounds page:

According to the frogs.org.au page, the Mallee Spadefoot Toads breed from August through to October, so it will be a while before we see any eggs. But it's very exciting to know that they're still around! The evenings seem to have been quiet for ages.
The calls are much more interesting to look at in the audio editor - compared to the Pobblebonk and Spotted Marsh Frog sounds which are just 'clicks'. This is the visual version of the preview sound:
